It’s the most colourful time of the year… pride month!
Every June across the country we celebrate our beautiful LGBTQ2+ community. At Marine Atlantic, we are proud to celebrate pride month and we will continue our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Being from a small town is awesome in so many ways. We know each other by name, we’re happy to lend a hand, help shovel a neighbour’s driveway, or drop off a casserole during tough times. We keep our doors open, the kettles always on for a cup of tea and a yarn.
In a small town, when you’re different it can be tough. Pride gives us all an opportunity to wear a rainbow pin, fly a rainbow flag, put a rainbow sticker in your business window, or share a pride post on Facebook. Think about the junior high student who is questioning their sexuality, pride shows them they’re not alone and more than that, they’re best kind just the way they are.
Atlantic Canadians pride ourselves on being welcoming people, the hit play “Come From Away” is a perfect example of our generous spirits. During pride month it’s important to show those around you that they’re safe, accepted and loved.
It is our responsibility to create the world we want to live in and in this world it takes all kinds!
