Ferrisview Elementary Visits Marine Atlantic

by Katie Guiney

Marine Atlantic recently had the pleasure of welcoming 39 students from Ferrisview Elementary to the North Sydney terminal for a tour of the terminal grounds and the MV Atlantic Vision.

The Grade One and Grade Two students were greeted upon arrival by Marie-Claire, Marine Atlantic’s Customer Experience Officer for North Sydney. Marie-Claire led the students on a brief tour of the terminal, following which they hopped on the shuttle bus and checked out the terminal ticket booths and the construction site for the new terminal. The students really enjoyed the limousine-style seating on the shuttle bus – many of the students proclaimed they had never seen seating like that before!

As much as the children had fun touring the terminal with Marie-Claire, they were all very excited to go onboard the vessel.  Sue, a Senior Chief Steward for the Atlantic Vision handled the vessel portion of the tour. Once onboard, Sue led the students to the bridge where they met the Captain and the First Officer of the Atlantic Vision!

After all the excitement on the bridge, the students continued with the tour, checking out the fun, bright seating in the Colours Lounge, the children’s play area, and finally, the Flower’s Restaurant. At the completion of the tour, the students enjoyed some freshly-baked Marine Atlantic chocolate chip cookies, along with juice and chocolate milk. A delicious end to a wonderful morning!

We wish to extend a special thank-you to all the Marine Atlantic staff who worked so hard to make the tour with the Ferrisview students a success.
