One of the things we most look forward to when we travel is the food we get to enjoy at our destination. And of the great things about travelling by ferry is the chance to have great food before getting there. With menus designed by our team of onboard chefs and Executive Chef David Jewells, our restaurants and cafes serve everything from casual snacks to fine dining.
When sailing on the MV Blue Puttees or MV Highlanders between Port aux Basques and North Sydney, you can choose between the Met Restaurant, the Barista Cafe, and the Riva Cafe. The Met offers the Cabot Strait Burger, which is sure to satisfy even the heartiest appetite. Freshly made onboard, this quarter pound beef burger is served with lettuce, tomato, pickle and cheese on an artisan sesame roll, accompanied by fresh cut fries. Or choose an east coast favorite, a crispy and light battered haddock and chips made fresh by our chefs. We served this in the crew’s mess, and they enjoyed it so much we decided to share it with our customers.
You should also check out one of our latest favorites: an eight ounce chicken breast, roasted and glazed in a sweet and spicy Thai sauce, served with your choice of potato and a fresh vegetable side. The Sweet Chili Chicken is fast becoming a best seller. And for something truly decadent, head up to the Riva Cafe. Made fresh to order, our classic Belgian waffle is served with a blend of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries over rich whipped cream and table syrup. Oh, and be sure to ask for chocolate or caramel sauce. Dessert for breakfast, a great way to enjoy your vacation!
On the Argentia service, the MV Atlantic Vision offers a snack bar, a buffet and a fine dining restaurant. Eggs Buffet has too many items to list, but you can bet on finding some treasures of Newfoundland & Labrador. It might be one of our many cod recipes, traditional pea soup or maybe the delicious trifle on our dessert bar. And don’t miss the nightly carving station where one of our friendly crew will slice a fresh roast beef, stuffed pork loin or glazed ham right on to your plate, and invite you back for more.
You could also opt for fine dining at sea in the Flowers Dining Room. A six ounce grilled fillet of fresh Atlantic halibut paired with a Newfoundland bakeapple chutney is served with a medley of fresh vegetables and your choice of potato. This great twist on local flavors is just delightful. And if you like Caesar salad, don’t miss on our take on this classic. Tossed to order, this one stands out from the rest in its basket of crisp Parmesan.
With this many options, you are sure to find just the right meal, no matter which ship you are on. Bon appetit!
